Annual Picnic August 24th 2010

June - Scott Johnson, a student from the Bahamas that's working on the Kirtland's Warbler Project with the National Forest Service, presented a very nice program on the Kirtland's Warbler studies and habitat, as well as the bird habitat improvements in the Bahama's.

May - Thanks to Paul Cleeves for the presentation entitled" Magic in the Air", a video about 350 different hummingbirds in the America's at our May meeting.

April - Kathy Wheeler & Ruth Fruehaus from ARK (Association to Rescue Kritters) presented "A Birds of Prey Educational Program" in April. They brought a Great horned Owl, a Barred Owl, A dark-phased Red-tail Hawk and a Rough-Legged Hawk. It was wonderful to see these birds up so close and personal with their beautiful feathers and sharp eyes.

March's - Meeting - Thanks to Ken Troyer for his video on "Winged Migration" and all the reports on our own "Bird's of Choice" was very interesting!

February - Thanks to our guest speaker in February, Ms. Lora Freer, MSU Extension Coordinator and Master Gardener. She discussed "Sewing winter plants" and various upcoming events. Was a very interesting presentation!

January - A great big thanks to Dick Huber from the National Forest Service,  for his presentation in January on the proposed restoration of the Jack Pine Barrens (native grassland openings found primarily in conjunction with jack pine habitats).
