 Next Monthly Meeting

Next Meeting January 24th, 2011 - 7pm
Clinton Township Hall
William Houston will explain the steps in dissecting barn owl pellets. Each member will receive a dissection packet that will be reviewed at this meeting. This is in preparation for the actual dissections that will occur ar the following February 28th meeting.



December -
The Christmas dinner and party with toy donations was a hit again this year! Many thanks to Sharon & Glen Reed for being our master chefs again!

November - Paul Lyden a veteran forest fighter from the Mio Forest Fire Services Office, spoke on forest fires and their effect on birds and other wildlife. He brought to us a real fire fighting experience in addition to his knowledge of wildlife.

October  - Barb Maunz presented her interesting trip with her son to Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine. Thanks, Barb!

September - Kim Piccolo from the Huron Manistee Ranger Station will present an overview of animal adaptations including migration and hibernation at this meeting.

August -  Picnic and short meeting with Johnna, (who is one of our sponsored campers), gave a brief overview of "Camp Life" and also showed a slide presentation of her camp friends and camp activities.

April -  Jennifer Kleitch, DNR Wildlife Biologist, updated us on the Michigan wolves (history) and the presence of wolves in the Lower Peninsula and how we are co-existing together. Was a very interesting presentation!

March -  Gary Gee provided a photo slideshow/quiz on birds, bees & wildflowers with a little Beatles music mixed in. It Featured many Bald Eagle photos.

February -  had Ken DeKett, a DNR official from Harrisville, with a presentation on the new Michigan Parks Passport program...the introduction, purpose, use, revenues, etc. It was also a very informative talk about the parks in Northern Michigan

January -  Thanks to Elaine Carlson from the DNRE for her very informative presentation on "Swans in NE Michigan", characteristics, adaption's, invasive species, etc.

December - Christmas Dinner at 6pm (please bring a dish to pass)
Monthly meeting to follow at 7pm

November - Final of the video "Winged Migration" Thanks to Ken Troyer!

 

October - A photo presentation on Iceland by Kyle Troyer was absolutely fabulous for all us birding enthusiasts. His two week trip was with photographers  geared towards landing shots of the birds of Iceland.

 

September - a wonderful presentation by Dana LeBlanc (former curator of the Lubee Bat Conservancy in Gainesville, FL) on bats around the world and in throughout Michigan
